Ioka beats Yaegashi in minimumweight unification bout
Jun 20, 2012 - 6:54 PM Osaka, Japan (Sports Network) - Kazuto Ioka won a unanimous decision over Akira Yaegashi to unify the WBC and WBA minimumweight titles.Ioka, the WBC champ, won by scores of 115-113 on two scorecards and 115-114 on another. He improved to 10-0 with six knockouts.
Yaegashi fell to 15-3 with his first loss since July 1, 2008. He had won eight straight fights since that setback, including a 10th-round TKO of Porpamook Pornsawan for the WBA title last October.
Ioka was making his third defense of the title he won in February 2011.
