0 shoutsTORONTO (Ticker) -- Anthony Calvillo threw four touchdown passes, including two to Jamal Richardson, to lead the Montreal Alouettes to a 43-34 victory over the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday.
Calvillo completed 32-of-45 passes for 336 yards while raising his season total to 42 touchdown passes. He is within six of Doug Flutie's season record and is 567 yards shy of his second career 6,000-yard season.
The Alouettes have two regular-season games remaining.
Montreal jumped to a 17-7 advantage after the first quarter on a pair of TD passes by Calvillo, a single and a safety. Richardson and Kerry Watkins hauled in the touchdowns.
Watkins led the Alouettes' receiving corps with nine catches for 88 yards.
The Argonauts made it interesting late in the fourth, when quarterback Kerry Joseph rushed for a four-yard TD early and got his team within 36-34 when he hit Reggie McNeal for a 91-yard score with 8:16 remaining.
Joseph finished with 400 yards passing and three touchdowns.
But Calvillo responded with a 36-yard TD pass to Brian Bratton three minutes later to seal the win.
The loss mathematically eliminated Toronto (4-12) from playoff contention, clinching second place in the East Division and a postseason berth for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Montreal (11-5) already has clinched first place in the East and home-field advantage.
