Ticats RB Mallett suffers torn Achilles
Jun 8, 2012 - 1:37 AM Hamilton, ON (Sports Network) - Hamilton Tiger-Cats running back Martell Mallett suffered a torn Achilles on Thursday, according to the team's Twitter account.Mallett will undergo surgery in the next 48 hours and will likely miss the 2012 season.
Mallett was the CFL's top rookie in 2009 when he rushed for 1,280 yards and six touchdowns with the B.C. Lions. He also caught 43 passes for 342 yards and two scores.
Following his impressive debut, Mallett joined the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles and also spent time with the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants.
