Stampeders sign QB McPherson
Jan 7, 2014 - 5:55 PM Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Calgary Stampeders signed quarterback Adrian McPherson on Tuesday. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.McPherson played five seasons with the Montreal Alouettes (2008-12) before signing with the Arena Football League's Tampa Bay Storm in 2013.
In five seasons and 80 regular-season games with Montreal, where he served as Anthony Calvillo's backup and the short-yardage quarterback, McPherson recorded 1,035 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns. He completed 145-of-243 passes for 1,505 yards and 10 touchdowns.
"The Stampeders have been one of the top teams since I first came to the CFL and I'm excited to come to Calgary," said McPherson.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound native of Bradenton, Fla., played two seasons at Florida State before turning pro.
