Lions crush Alouettes

Jul 20, 2014 - 2:53 AM Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Emmanuel Arceneaux caught three touchdown passes as the British Columbia Lions dominated the Montreal Alouettes, 41-5, on Saturday.

Arceneaux finished the game with eight catches for 145 yards, while Kevin Glenn went 23-for-31 for 301 yards and two scores for the Lions (2-2), who have won their past two after opening the season with a pair of losses.

Troy Smith went just 5-for-17 for 45 yards and an interception for the Alouettes (1-3), who have lost their past two games.

The Lions got a 30-yard field goal from Paul McCallum to cap their first possession of the game, and their second touch ended on a 35-yard touchdown catch by Arceneaux from Glenn.

Montreal answered the touchdown with its only points of the first half, a 42- yard field goal from Sean Whyte.

British Columbia got a 16-yard field goal from McCallum late in the second, and a blocked punt resulted in a Travis Partridge 1-yard touchdown run to give the team a 20-3 lead at the break.

A 10-yard scoring pass by Glenn to Arceneaux was the only points of the third quarter, and the Lions turned the game into a rout in the fourth.

With John Beck under center, Arceneaux caught a 27-yard score, and Andrew Harris had a 13-yard scoring catch, while the Lions conceded a safety in their own end zone later in the game to account for the final score.

Beck went 4-for-7 for 72 yards and two scores ... Stefan Logan had nine carries for 74 yards, while Harris added with 72 yards on 12 carries and four catches for 78 yards and a score ... Brandon Whitaker had 11 carries for 65 yards for the Alouettes ... Montreal has off next week and will host Toronto on Aug. 1 ... British Columbia hosts Winnipeg on Friday.
