Stamps rout RedBlacks

Aug 10, 2014 - 3:04 AM Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Bo Levi Mitchell tossed three touchdown passes and ran for another as the Calgary Stampeders routed the Ottawa RedBlacks, 38-17, on Saturday night.

Mitchell was 26-of-36 for 289 yards, while Marquay McDaniel had nine receptions for 117 yards and a score for Calgary, which bounced back from its first loss of the season last week to the BC Lions and moved into a tie with the Edmonton Eskimos atop the Western Conference standings.

Jeff Fuller and Jabari Arthur also hauled in TD passes in the triumph.

Former Stampeders quarterback Henry Burris completed 20-of-29 passes for 281 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions for the RedBlacks, who have dropped three straight. Wallace Miles caught five passes for 102 yards and a score in defeat.

Calgary raced out to a 21-0 lead and never looked back.

Mitchell's 8-yard TD run accounted for the lone score in the opening frame, while TD receptions of 17 and 22 yards, respectively, by Fuller and McDaniel in the second staked the Stampeders to their 21-point cushion with 2:30 left in the half.

Chevon Walker plunged in from a yard out on Ottawa's ensuing possession, but Calgary quickly answered when Mitchell hit Arthur for a 17-yard score with 48 ticks left until the break to give the Stamps a 28-7 advantage.

Rene Paredes' 12-yard field goal prior to the midway mark of the third made it 31-7 before Burris' 32-yard TD strike to Miles cut the Ottawa gap to 31-14.

Brett Maher connected on a 32-yard field goal early in the fourth to trim the margin to 32-17 before field goals of 40 and 28 yards by Paredes capped the scoring.
