Cornish among CFL players of the week
Oct 21, 2014 - 5:57 PM Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish was named the CFL's Offensive and Canadian Player of the Week for Week 17 after collecting 172 yards from scrimmage on 22 touches in Saturday's 33-23 victory over the Blue Bombers.Cornish carried the ball 21 times for 160 yards and a touchdown. He added a single reception for 12 yards in the contest.
Edmonton Eskimos linebacker Dexter McCoil was named Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week. He had a career-high seven tackles and an interception to help the Eskimos to a 24-19 win in Regina.
Eskimos returner Kendial Lawrence was named Special Teams Player of the Week after recording 150 combined return yards and a touchdown.
