Roughriders acquire DB Alexander

Feb 26, 2009 - 10:36 PM REGINA, Saskatchewan (Ticker) -- The Saskatchewan Roughriders acquired defensive back Donovan Alexander from the Montreal Alouettes for second-round picks in 2009 and 2010 on Thursday.

Alexander, who turns 24 in April, appeared in four games with Montreal last season. The 5-11, 185-pounder was selected in the third round of the 2007 Canadian Draft.

Alexander also spent time with the NFL's Seattle Seahawks.

"Donovan is a very skilled athlete, who, along with Leron Mitchell and Konrad Wasiela, now gives us a very legitimate chance to alter our ratio and play with a Canadian cornerback, if we chose to do so," head coach Ken Miller said.

The Riders also signed wide receiver-kick returner Casey McGahee and receiver David McKoy. Financial terms were not released.

McGahee returned seven punt returns for 93 yards - including a 57-yard return for a touchdown - with Winnipeg last season.

McKoy dressed in nine regular season games for the Riders in 2007, but missed the last season and a half with a knee injury.
