Donovan, Beckham help Galaxy tie Dynamo

CARSON, California (Ticker) -- Landon Donovan scored a pair of
goals in the second half on assists from David Beckham as the
Los Angeles Galaxy overcame a pair of one-goal deficits and
escape with a 2-2 draw with the Houston Dynamo on Saturday.

With his team trailing, 2-1, late in the game, Beckham made a
perfect crossing pass through a defender to a sliding Donovan,
who converted into the open side of the goal in the 84th minute.
It was Donovan's fifth goal of the young season.

"I've said it before when you play with players that are
intelligent, they know where to run and they know when to look
for a ball and that was the case tonight," Beckham said of
Donovan.

Donovan tied it at 1-1 earlier in the half, connecting on a
diving header at the near goalpost in the 67th minute off a
cross from Beckham.

"I think that the second half was an excellent game for the
Galaxy," Los Angeles coach Ruud Gullit said. "I'm very proud of
the team and the response I got from the leaders. I think they
showed that they can make a difference and they did."

"We decided to adjust and add some fight to our game and it
worked," Beckham said of the second-half adjustments. "We got
more position of the ball that we didn't have in the first half.
The second half, we showed some character and passion."

Beckham now has a goal and three assists this season - his first
full campaign in the MLS.

"I've always said my game is about assists and what happened
tonight is the way we want to go forward," Beckham said.

Brad Davis and Franco Caraccio both scored for the Dynamo, who
have tied three straight games.

Davis scored his first goal of the season in the 36th minute
after striking the ball out of midair of a touch pass from
Caraccio, who received a header from Brian Mullan.

"In the first half, Houston showed us why they are the league
champions," Gullit said.

After Donovan's first goal of the night tied it, Caraccio gave
Houston a 2-1 lead with his second goal of the season. Caraccio
knocked in a rebound after Brian Ching it the crossbar with his
attempt.

Caraccio then received a yellow card for excessive celebration.
