game-high 18 points and Kevin Dillard added 14 to lead Southern
Illinois to a 91-63 victory against Tennessee-Martin on Saturday

In 15 minutes, Fay shot 6 of 7 from the floor, made all five

damage in the second half, scoring nine of his team's next 11
points after re-entering the game with 14 minutes remaining and
the Salukis (1-0) up 53-32.

After Dillard, a starting guard, Southern Illinois' next-leading
scorer was another reserve, Kendal Brown-Surles, who had 12
points. Starters Anthony Booker and Tony Freeman had 10 points
each.

DES MOINES, Iowa (Ticker) -- The Missouri Valley Conference
contest between Drake and Evansville was postponed Wednesday due
to a winter storm that prevented the Purple Aces from traveling.

Due to a snowstorm that blanketed the Midwest, Evansville was
unable to fly out of Southern Indiana to make the contest

The game has been rescheduled for Thursday at 4 p.m. CST.

"We regret this terrible inconvenience caused by Mother Nature,"
Drake athletic director Hatfield Clubb said. "I appreciate our

Aboya, UCLA pull away from Southern Illinois in second half

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Alfred Aboya helped UCLA salvage its trip
to Madison Square Garden.

Aboya scored 13 of his career-high 22 points in the second half
as fourth-ranked UCLA posted a 77-60 victory over Southern
Illinois in the third-place game of the 2K Sports Classic on
Friday.

Darren Collison added eight of his 16 points after intermission
for the Bruins (3-1), who bounced back following Thursday's
upset loss by Michigan in the semifinals.

After managing just 52 points against Michigan, UCLA found
itself in another tight affair, leading by two points at the
break, 35-33, before Aboya and the rest of the team picked it up
with a big run.

Michael Roll gave the Bruins a 39-33 advantage on his jumper
less than three minutes after intermission - the first field
goal for UCLA in more than nine minutes.

However, the Salukis (2-2) clawed back, tying the contest at
48-48 with 10:48 remaining on two free throws by Ryan Hare.

UCLA found its range from outside thereafter, connecting on
three 3-pointers as it ripped off an 20-2 run. Nikola Dragovic
opened the burst with a basket from the arc and Collison
connected on back-to-back 3-pointers at one point for a 57-48
advantage with 8:24 to play.

Aboya contributed seven points during the run, including a
thunderous dunk on a fast break that extended the lead to 60-50
with 6:08 left. Josh Shipp grabbed a steal to start that break
before flipping a breakout pass behind the back to Collison, who
also went behind his back to Aboya in the lane for the slam.

Aboya finished 6-of-8 from the field, converted 10-of-13 free
throws and grabbed eight rebounds.

"I think my teammates did a great job of finding me tonight,"
Aboya said. "Southern Illinois is an aggressive team,
especially on defense. They are very help conscious and when my
teammates drove to the basket, they did a good job of helping
and my teammates did a good job of getting the ball to me when
my man came to help. That was why I got easy baskets.

"I just concentrated on my foul shots tonight when I got
fouled."

Aboya had an injury scare, landing hard on his left wrist after
taking a charge of Nick Evans with 3:38 left in the contest.
Yet, X-rays and a CAT scan performed at NYU Hospital for Joint
Diseases were negative.

"I hurt it last night (against Michigan) after a charge and then
again tonight when I drew that last charge," Aboya said. "I
just came back from the hospital and the CT scan and X-rays were
both negative.

"On Monday, I'll go get an MRI on my wrist, just to double
check. But I think I'll be fine. We have tomorrow and Sunday
off, so for me, I think that is enough time to heal. My body
heals up pretty quickly."

Overall, Aboya took five charges, including four against
Michigan, in UCLA's two games in New York.

Shipp scored 11 points and freshman Jrue Holiday added eight for
the Bruins, who shot 48 percent (26-of-54).

Despite its offensive struggles the day before, UCLA got out to
a strong start, grabbing a 24-13 lead midway through the first
half on a layup in transition by Collison.

Southern Illinois cut that deficit to five points before Holiday
completed a three-point play with 7:22 remaining. However, the
Salukis would not be denied, closing out the opening half on a
12-6 run. Wesley Clemmons and Kevin Dillard both hit a
3-pointer during that span.

Behind Dillard, Southern Illinois made 5-of-7 3-pointers in the
first half before cooling down after intermission, finishing
6-of-11.

Dillard hit three 3-pointers en route to 14 points. Tony Boyle
had 10 and Hare added nine for Southern Illinois, which
committed 21 turnovers.

UCLA, Southern Illinois looking to bounce back

No. 4 UCLA (2-1) vs. Southern Illinois (2-1) 5:00 p.m. EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) - It did not take long for UCLA to suffer an
upset.

Fourth-ranked UCLA looks to rebound from a dismal loss and
finish in third place at the 2008 2K Sports Classic when it
faces Southern Illinois at Madison Square Garden on Friday.

Darren Collison and talented freshman Jrue Holliday finished
with 13 points apiece for the Bruins, but it was not enough as
they endured a 55-52 upset loss to Michigan during the
semifinals on Thursday.

The Bruins had trouble with Michigan's 1-3-1 zone defense,
knocking down only 2-of-8 3-point attempts in the second half
after leading by as many as 10 points in the opening 20 minutes.

Southern Illinois may want to employ a similar tactic if it
wants to bounce back from an 83-58 loss to fifth-ranked Duke in
the other semifinal on Thursday.

The Salukis kept it close with their defensive effort, trailing,
29-23, at the half and pulling to within 32-29 on Carlton Fay's
3-pointer earlier in the second half. A 43-22 run over the
next 14 minutes helped Duke pull away as Southern Illinois
endured its first loss.

Big second half helps Duke cruise past Southern Illinois

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Gerald Henderson scored all 20 of his
points in the second half to lead No. 5 Duke to an 83-58 victory
over Southern Illinois on Thursday in the 2008 2K Sports Classic
at Madison Square Garden.

Illinois native Jon Scheyer added 13 points and six rebounds for
the Blue Devils (4-0), who will play Michigan in the tournament
final on Friday.

After being held to 32 percent shooting (6-for-19) while
committing 15 turnovers in the first half, the Blue Devils
stepped up in the final 20 minutes, putting on an offensive
display while chopping the turnover count to two.

"We definitely have to take care of the ball a little bit more,"
Henderson said. "We have to think out there and just be a
little smarter with our reads and how we're attacking their
defense. We did that much better in the second half."

Henderson and Kyle Singler were both held scoreless on a
combined 0-of-6 shooting in the first half but went 8-of-16 in
the second to finish with 33 total points.

"(Gerald Henderson) played an outstanding half, and his reads
coming off of one of our sets got him those three open threes
along the baseline," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said.

The Salukis kept it close with their defensive effort, trailing,
29-23, at the half and pulling to within 32-29 on Carlton Fay's
3-pointer earlier in the second half.

"We're really pleased with the win," Krzyzewski said.
"(Southern Illinois) plays outstanding defense and so do we, so
points were really hard to come by. I thought their toughness
knocked us back a little bit in the first half."

A 43-22 run over the next 14 minutes helped Duke pull away.

"They play really aggressive defense so you can't just run the
plays, they're going to be there," Henderson said. "You have to
read where they're going and just go the other way to make
things easier for yourself. I kind of did that and my teammates
found me and I was fortunate enough to hit some shots."

The Blue Devils grabbed the lead in the first half thanks to the
Scheyer and center Ben Zoubek, who combined from 18 points.

"We got great contributions from Brian Zoubek," Krzyzewski said.
"I thought Zoubek was the main reason we had a small lead at
halftime."

Duke did much of its damage from the free-throw line, knocking
down 40-of-47 from the stripe, including 24 straight at one
point. The Salukis finished 12-of-19 at the line.

"We change our offense too when we get close to the bonus or
double-bonus, where we drive it more," Krzyzewski said. "So
that's what we tried to do today and our guys stepped up there
and hit them. We should shoot a good number of free throws if
we don't turn (the ball) over because we have fresh guys who
like to drive."

Fay scored a career-high 17 points on 6-of-17 shooting, but
Southern Illinois shot just 35 percent (20-of-57) and was killed
on the glass, getting outrebounded, 39-24.

No. 5 Duke (3-0) vs. Southern Illinois (2-0), 7:00 p.m. EST

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Duke is hoping the tense moments it faced
in its last contest will prove beneficial at Madison Square
Garden.

The fifth-ranked Blue Devils go for their fourth straight win on
Thursday when they take on Southern Illinois in the semifinals
of the 2K Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer.

The winner will move to face either fourth-ranked UCLA or
Michigan in the finals on Friday.

Duke (3-0) advanced to the semifinals with wins over
Presbyterian and Georgia Southern, respectively. The Blue Devils
had to sweat out an 82-79 victory over Rhode Island in a
non-tournament contest on Sunday.

Kyle Singler scored 21 points and made two key free throws late
as Duke rallied to win with an 11-2 run after trailing for the
majority of the second half. Singler leads the team in scoring
at 19.7 points per game.

"(Rhode Island) played almost a perfect game and our kids had to
do some very good things in order to win," Duke coach Mike
Krzyzewski said. "It was a high level and any games in the
Garden will be high level when you have these four programs
coming in."

Southern Illinois (2-0) advanced with wins over California
University of Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

CARBONDALE, Illinois (Ticker) -- Tony Freeman has decided to
make a change for his senior season.

Freeman has opted to transfer to Southern Illinois, the school
announced Monday.

Following NCAA rules, the 6-1 guard will sit out the 2008-09
season. He will have one year of eligibility when he returns.

As a junior with Iowa this past season, Freeman led the Hawkeyes
in scoring with 13.8 points despite missing the first 10 games
of the season with a stress fracture.

"Tony brings maturity and toughness, which have been so
consistent in our guard play in the past," Southern Illinois
coach Chris Lowery said. "We've got to get our practices back
to where they are really competitive, and he'll help us do
that."

Freeman also shot 38.3 percent on 3-pointers en route to being
named to the third team of the All-Big Ten Conference. Despite
that, Iowa went 13-19 for its first losing record in eight
seasons.

The Salukis, on the other hand, are coming off an 18-15 record
and an appearance in the NIT. Prior to that, Southern Illinois
made the NCAA Tournament six straight seasons.

Mullins' 13 points leads Southern Illinois past Drake

CARBONDALE, Illinois (Ticker) -- Bryan Mullins and Randal
Falker halted Drake's drive for a title.

Mullins scored 11 of his 13 points in the first half as Southern
Illinois posted a 65-62 Missouri Valley Conference victory over
No. 15 Drake on Wednesday.

Falker also scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Joshua
Bone had nine for the Salukis (12-12, 7-6 MVC), who have won 18
in a row at home and improved to 60-1 at SIU Arena vs. league
opponents since the start of the 2001-02 season.

"We've come up on the short end of the stick with several games
this season," Southern Illinois coach Chris Lowery said. "Our
guys came up in the end and got it done. That's what it's about
- protecting your home court, no matter who your opponent is."

Southern Illinois also stopped Drake from clinching at least a
share of the conference title.

"That was just extra motivation for us," Southern Illinois
forward Matt Shaw said. "We didn't want them to come to our gym
and cut down our nets and clinch the championship."

The Bulldogs (22-2, 13-1), who owned four-game lead over
second-place Illinois State with five league games remaining,
entering this contest needed one win to clinch a share of its
first MVC title since tying Louisville and Saint Louis for a
league championship in 1970-71. Drake's last outright title
came in 1969-70.

The Salukis held strong in the final minutes of this game to
fight off the Bulldogs.

After Klayton Korver drilled a 3-pointer to cut Drake's deficit
to 60-59 with 2:26 left, Mullins hit a jumper with 1:46
remaining to give Southern Illinois a three-point lead.

Just 11 seconds later, a shot from the arc by Josh Young knotted
the game at 62-62 before a layup by Wesley Clemmons put the
Salukis ahead, 64-62, with 80 seconds remaining.

"The (Bulldogs) made some bombs today," Lowery said. "We knew
Korver and Young could make those long, NBA threes."

Leonard Houston missed 3-point attempt with 62 seconds left for
the Bulldogs and Adam Emmenecker failed to convert a layup
attempt with 12 ticks on the clock before Shaw split a pair of
foul shots for the Salukis with two seconds to play to make it
65-62.

Drake had one more attempt at a tie, but Houston's 3-point
attempt at the buzzer failed, sending the Bulldogs to their
first loss in 22 games.

"Our guys got it done," Lowery said.

Shaw and Clemmons finished with eight and five points,
respectively, for the Salukis, who shot 50 percent (24-of-48)
and have won 12 straight here vs. Drake.

"They made some runs and hit some shots, but we always had an
answer," Mullins said.

Young scored 17 points and Korver and Jonathan Cox each
contributed 11 for the Bulldogs, who shot 43 percent (22-of-51)
and have dropped 18 of their last 19 decisions to Southern
Illinois.

"I think in this conference, if every game on the road goes down
to the last minute, I think you'd be pretty happy with that as
a coach," Drake coach Keno Davis said. "So I don't want (our
team) to get too down, because we lost at a place that no one
ever wins at."

Drake looks to clinch share of MVC crown

No. 15 Drake (22-1) at Southern Illinois (12-12) 8:05 pm EST

CARBONDALE, Illinois (Ticker) - If No. 15 Drake is to clinch a
share of the Missouri Valley Conference title on Wednesday, it
will have to end a losing streak.

The Bulldogs (22-1, 13-0 MVC) have won 21 consecutive games, but
are looking to end an 11-game losing streak at Southern
Illinois (12-12, 7-6) that dates back to February 17, 1996.

The Salukis, who have won 17 straight at home, are 59-1 here
against conference opponents since the start of the 2001-02
season. Drake ended a 17-game losing streak against Southern
Illinois with a 61-51 home victory on January 2.

The Bulldogs haven't shared the MVC title since 1970-71, winning
their last outright championship the year before.

"We've got to understand that we've got to enjoy every victory
we get," Drake coach Keno Davis said.

Graves' buzzer-beater lifts Butler over Southern Illinois

CARBONDALE, Illinois (Ticker) -- Despite having one of his
worst shooting games of the season, A.J. Graves made the shot
that counted.

Graves' deep 3-pointer as time expired lifted No. 17 Butler to a
dramatic 57-55 victory over Southern Illinois on Friday.

The Bulldogs' leading scorer, Graves was just 2-of-10 from the
field when he received the inbounds pass in the backcourt with
six seconds left and his team down two points.

The senior guard dribbled up the middle of the floor before
crossing over to his left more than 10 feet beyond the arc.
Graves then hoisted up a shot that rattled around the rim, hit
the backboard and went in as the horn sounded, giving Butler
(12-1) its fourth straight victory.

Graves finished 2-of-6 from the arc and added a season-high five
rebounds as the Bulldogs have won 12 of their first 13 games
for the second consecutive season.

Mike Green scored 19 points to lead Butler, which overcame an
extended drought from the floor for much of the second half.

The Bulldogs never trailed by more than five points during the
second half despite going without a field goal for nearly 14
minutes. They converted 10-of-14 from the foul line during that
span and Green's free throw tied the game at 47-47 with 4:49
remaining.

Pete Campbell broke a string of 11 straight missed shots with a
3-pointer to give Butler a 50-47 lead with 3:01 to play.

Tied at 52-52, Wesley Clemmons gave the Salukis the lead on a
3-pointer with 1:02 left to play. Green made a layup for Butler
with 33 seconds left and Southern Illinois had a free throw
violation to set the stage for Graves.

Matt Howard chipped in 15 points and Graves finished with 10 for
the Bulldogs, who were defeated at home by Southern Illinois,
68-64, on February 17 last season.

Butler shot over 50 percent in the first half but was 6-of-20
(30 percent) from the field in the second half. However, the
Bulldogs outscored the Salukis, 21-3, in made free throws for
the game.

After trailing by four points early, Butler went on a 14-1 run
to take a 15-7 advantage with 13:07 left in the first half.

Southern Illinois answered late in the first half with a 12-2
spurt of its own to take a 27-23 lead with 4:27 left in the
half. But the Bulldogs came back behind 3-pointers from Graves
and Campbell and led, 31-29, at the break.

The Salukis scored the first six points of the second half and
held a slim margin for most of the final 20 minutes. Joshua
Bone's fourth 3-pointer of the game gave Southern Illinois its
largest lead at 44-39 with 11:30 left to play.

Bone finished with a career-high 19 points and Randal Falker
added 14 and seven rebounds for the Salukis (5-6), who made only
3-of-12 from the free-throw line and were 6-of-20 from the arc
for the game.

Leading scorer Matt Shaw went scoreless for Southern Illinois,
missing all seven of his shots from the field and both of his
attempts from the foul line.

Butler hits the road again, visits Southern Illinois

No. 17 Butler (11-1) at Southern Illinois (5-5) 9:00 pm EST

CARBONDALE, Illinois (Ticker) - Having five full days to digest
an unexpected narrow victory in its last game, No. 17 Butler
travels to SIU Arena to meet Southern Illinois on Friday.

After Florida Gulf Coast hung with them through 38 minutes on
Saturday, Butler used a late 10-2 run over the contest's final
two minutes to distance themselves from the Eagles and escape
with a 78-66 win.

Guard Danny Graves hit all nine of his free throw attempts to
help Butler to a season-best 93 percent (26-of-28) shooting from
the foul line. That efficiency helped the Bulldogs overcome a
five-minute stretch near the end of the game in which they did
not score a basket.

Butler will be playing consecutive road games for the third time
this season when they face the Salukis, who are off to their
slowest start since coach Chris Lowery joined the program as an
assistant in 2001-02.

Southern Illinois recorded a 68-64 road victory when these teams
met last season.

The Salukis got 24 points from junior guard Wesley Clemmons, who
missed the team's first four games with an ankle injury, in a
88-78 win over Western Kentucky on Saturday.

The Salukis have just two wins in their last seven games.

Mullins, Southern Illinois spoil Saint Mary's ranking

CARBONDALE, Illinois (Ticker) -- Bryan Mullins and Southern
Illinois nearly saw their early-season struggles get really bad.

Mullins scored 11 of his 24 points in a key stretch as the
Salukis avoided the loss of a big lead and posted a 71-56
victory over No. 24 Saint Mary's on Tuesday.

Matt Shaw had 13 points and Joshua Bone added 10 for Southern
Illinois (4-3), which snapped a three-game losing streak that
had dropped it out of the national rankings.

Failing to score in double figures during the team's slump,
Mullins showed a surprising initiative to take the clutch shot,
finishing 7-of-10 from the field with 3-pointers.

"He was special," Southern Illinois coach Chris Lowery said.
"He looked like he wanted to win."

Meanwhile, Saint Mary's (7-1) was playing in its first game as a
ranked team in 18 years, and struggled until late.

The Gaels, who last were in the top 25 during the 1988-89 season
before being voted into the USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll on
Monday, fell behind by 19 points after Shaw made one of three
free throws for a 51-32 lead with 14:49 to play.

The Salukis, who are considered one of the top mid-major teams
in the nation and were ranked as high as 18th before their
recent skid, figured to have the game in hand due to their
rugged defense.

However, Saint Mary's came alive, ripping off a 20-4 run behind
seven points from Patrick Mills and five by Tron Smith to come
within 55-52 with 5:56 remaining.

Although that was the closest the Gaels got, they were down just
58-54 with just under 4 1/2 minutes left when Mullins stepped
up.

The junior guard scored nine straight points and 11 overall
during a 13-0 run that practically sealed the contest.

Mullins hit an off-balanced layup to give his club a six-point
lead with 4:06 remaining and knocked down a 3-pointer 48 seconds
later before adding a jumper and two free throws for a 67-54
lead with 70 seconds to play.

He added two more free throws in the closing minute on the way
to finishing 7-of-7 at the line.

"My role this year is obviously different than it has been in
the past, and I'm still adjusting to it," Mullins said. "We had
great playmakers the last two years with Tony Young and Jamaal
Tatum. I was able to give them the ball at the end of the shot
clock, and they would make plays for us. Now, I have to start
making more plays for my teammates."

Smith completed the scoring for on a jumper seven seconds later,
as Saint Mary's absorbed a loss in its first road game outside
of California.

Randal Falker chipped in eight points and 12 rebounds for the
Salukis, who captured their first win over a ranked opponent
since beating No. 17 Creighton on March 1, 2003.

Already facing such teams as Southern California and Indiana,
Southern Illinois continued to add to its strong schedule, as
Saint Mary's had the top RPI ranking in the nation.

"I think who we played is really going to pay off for us,"
Lowery said. "The different types of players we've seen, the
special athletes and special talents, I think it's going to be a
credit to us down the road."

Mills had 11 points for the Gaels, who made just 15-of-23 free
throws (65 percent).

Smith and Diamon Simpson had 10 points each for Saint Mary's,
which was outrebounded by a 39-24 margin.

"They blasted us on the boards," Gaels coach Randy Bennett said.

No. 24 Saint Mary's Ca (7-0) at Southern Illinois (3-3) 8:05 pm EST

CARBONDALE, Illinois (Ticker) - Off to its best start since the
1988-89 season, No. 24 Saint Mary's will have one of its
toughest road tests of the season when it takes on Southern
Illinois on Tuesday.

The Gaels, who started 9-0 when they were last ranked 18 years
ago, won their first six games at home - including a 99-87 win
over then-No. 11 Oregon on November 20.

Saint Mary's defeated San Diego State, 69-64, on a neutral court
in Anaheim on Saturday but the Gaels will have their hands full
at the SIU Arena where the Salukis are 80-4 since the start of
the 2001-02 season.

Saint Mary's freshman point guard Patrick Mills is averaging
16.1 points and 4.4 assists, leading the team in both
categories. The Australian native is helped out in the
frontcourt by Omar Samhan and Diamon Simpson, who are averaging
13.9 and 13.0 points, respectively.

Southern Illinois, which was ranked as high as 18th on November
25, has lost three straight games.

The Salukis have scored just 50.7 points per game during their
skid, including a 71-56 setback to Charlotte on Saturday.

Randal Falker is averaging 13.3 points and 6.5 rebounds to lead
the Salukis, who lead the all-time series 4-1. The Salukis
posted a 66-61 win at Saint Mary's last season.

Gordon, Indiana defense, keys victory over Southern Illinois

CARBONDALE, Illinois (Ticker) -- The Southern Illinois defense
could not slow down Eric Gordon. And it was Indiana's defense
that shined in the second half.

Gordon scored 22 points and the 15th-ranked Hoosiers shut down
the No. 22 Salukis en route to a 64-51 victory on Saturday.

The sensational freshman Gordon, who came into the game leading
the nation in scoring at 27.3 points per game, made 7-of-14
shots from the field - including 4-of-7 from the arc - for his
seventh straight game of scoring at least 20 points.

The Salukis came into the game allowing 57.0 points per game,
but could not slow down Gordon, who had five points during a key
8-0 run that gave Indiana a 48-34 lead with 8:53 remaining.

D.J. White added 10 points and 12 rebounds for his third
straight double-double and Jamarcus Ellis had 11 points and 10
rebounds for the Hoosiers.

Indiana (6-1) led by six points at the break and by as many as
16 in the second half as the Salukis shot just 8-of-25 (32
percent) from the field over the final 20 minutes.

Southern Illinois went nearly 6 1/2 minutes without a field goal
midway through the second half and made only 1-of-14 shots from
the arc for the contest. The Salukis also made only 8-of-15
from the free-throw line.

It was the second straight poor shooting game for the Salukis
(3-2), who made 33 percent of its field goals in a 70-45 loss to
Southern California on Sunday.

Indiana held a 38-29 advantage in rebounds and blocked nine
Southern Illinois shots as the Hoosiers are off to their best
start since beginning the 2002-03 season 8-0.

Gordon scored his first five points midway through the first
half, sparking a 7-0 spurt that gave Indiana an 18-14 lead with
8:21 left.

The Hoosiers went on a 12-3 run to take their biggest lead at
34-25 before Bryan Mullins converted a three-point play with one
second left in the half to cut the Salukis deficit to six.

Randal Falker had 12 points and seven rebounds to lead Southern
Illinois, which only scored nine points during the first 15:50
of the second half.

The loss snapped a 15-game home winning streak for Southern
Illinois and was just the fourth in the last 84 games at home
since the start of the 2001-02 season.

Gordon, Indiana face defensive-minded Southern Illinois

No. 15 Indiana (5-1) at No. 22 Southern Illinois (3-1) 9:30 pm EST

CARBONDALE, Illinois (Ticker) -- Indiana freshman Eric Gordon
can score in bushels, but he may have a tough time against one
of the more stingy defenses in the country.

Gordon and the 15th-ranked Hoosiers look for a second straight
win when they visit 22nd-ranked Southern Illinois on Saturday.

One of the best players in the country, Gordon leads the nation
in scoring at 27.3 points per game, just ahead of Kansas State
freshman Michael Beasley (27.2 ppg).

Gordon scored 29 points and hit 13-of-16 free throws to lead the
Hoosiers to a 83-79 win over Georgia Tech on Tuesday.

A home grown product from Indianapolis, the 6-4 guard helped
Kelvin Samspon's team rebound from a 80-65 loss to Xavier on
Saturday.

However, his scoring prowess will be tested by the Salukis, who
are allowing an average of 57 .0points. That average would
have been a lot lower if Southern Illinois had not lost, 70-45,
to O.J. Mayo and Southern California in the championship game of
the inagural Anaheim Classic on Sunday.

Randal Falker led the way with 17 points and 12 rebounds for the
Salukis, who started the season with three straight wins.
