Sep 7, 2014 - 4:00 AM Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Yoenis Cespedes and Christian Vazquez both hit RBI doubles and the Boston Red Sox defeated the Toronto Blue Jays, 4-3, on Saturday.

Dustin Pedroia and Will Middlebrooks each drove in a run and David Ortiz supplied two hits and a run scored for the Red Sox, who have won the first two meetings of this three-game set.

Clay Buchholz (7-8) earned the win after surrendering just two runs on four hits with five strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings.

Colby Rasmus hit a two-run homer and Dioner Navarro brought in a run for Toronto, which had starter J.A. Happ (9-9) give up four runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings of work.

Toronto opened the scoring in the first. Edwin Encarnacion hit a two-out single and Adam Lind walked before Navarro's double to right made it a 1-0 game.

Mookie Betts tripled to open the home half and came home on Pedroia's groundout to tie the game at 1-1.

Boston took the lead in the second. Mike Napoli's base hit led off the frame, Allen Craig hit a single two batters later to place runners at the corners and Middlebrooks' grounder to left scored Napoli for an RBI single and a 2-1 score.

Cespedes ripped an RBI double to the right-field wall in the third to add another run for the Red Sox.

Middlebrooks worked a one-out walk off Happ in the fourth and Vazquez doubled off the Green Monster in left to plate Middlebrooks for a 4-1 game.

In the seventh, Buchholz hit Danny Valencia with a pitch before pinch-hitter Rasmus greeted Craig Breslow with a two-run shot to right, getting the Blue Jays within one.

Edward Mujica got the final two outs of the ninth, stranding two runners for his fourth save of the season.

Game Notes

The start of the game was delayed 72 minutes due to rain ... Napoli left the game due to illness ... Buchholz improved to 9-3 in 14 career starts against Toronto ... Vazquez extended his hitting streak to six games ... Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista has hit in 10 straight games.
