Rosario lifts Rockies over Brewers in 10th
Apr 9, 2015 - 5:38 AM Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Wilin Rosario's solo home run in the 10th inning lifted the Colorado Rockies to a 5-4 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday.After Milwaukee tied the game with two runs during the bottom of the ninth, Rosario came on to pinch-hit for LaTroy Hawkins (1-0) with one out and drove a Francisco Rodriguez (0-1) fastball to right-center field for the deciding run.
John Axford retired the Brewers in order during the bottom half of the 10th to earn his first save of the season.
Carlos Gonzalez hit a two-run shot, Corey Dickerson also homered and starter Eddie Butler gave up two runs on four hits and four walks with five strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings for the Rockies, who swept the Brewers for the first time since Aug. 13-15, 2012.
"We keep going up there and putting together tough at-bats," Colorado manager Walt Weiss said. "The guys just keep battling."
Ryan Braun and Carlos Gomez each provided RBI singles during the ninth and Adam Lind went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and two walks for the Brewers.
Milwaukee starter Wily Peralta allowed two runs on seven hits with two strikeouts over seven frames.
"They don't miss anything," Peralta said of the Rockies. "They've been really hot."
Hawkins came on to pitch the ninth for Colorado and gave up back-to-back one- out singles to Gerardo Parra and Jean Segura. LeMahieu made a diving play on Scooter Gennett for the second out.
Braun brought in Parra with an infield hit up the third-base line and Gomez's grounder rolled into right to score Segura for a tied game. Hawkins struck out Lucroy to send the game into extra innings.
In the first inning, Lind's liner bounced off the warning track and over the wall for a ground-rule double with two outs in the first inning, but Aramis Ramirez grounded out to leave him stranded.
Following Lucroy's two-out walk, Lind crushed Butler's 0-1 changeup over the wall in center for a 2-0 Brewers lead.
LeMahieu poked a grounder into right with two outs in the fifth to score Nolan Arenado, who opened the fifth with a double and moved to third on a Dickerson groundout.
Khris Davis received a standing ovation from the Milwaukee faithful after making a leaping catch into the left-field wall, retiring Gonzalez for the second out of the sixth.
Dickerson tied the game with one out in the seventh inning on his second home run of the season, a line drive to right center field.
Charlie Blackmon doubled off the base of the wall in center with one out in the eighth and Gonzalez followed him by smacking the first pitch he saw off the scoreboard in center for a 4-2 Rockies lead.

Colorado started the season 3-0 for the first time since 2001 ... Colorado was swept by Milwaukee at home for just the second time in franchise history (June 9-11, 2009 ... The Rockies will host the Cubs in the opener of a three-game set on Friday, while the Brewers will kick off a three-game homestand with the Pirates.
