Dodgers top Mariners in 10 innings

Apr 14, 2015 - 5:39 AM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Alex Guerrero's RBI single in the bottom of the 10th lifted the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 6-5 win over the Seattle Mariners on Monday night in the opener of a three-game set.

Andre Ethier smacked a double to right-center to lead off the bottom of the 10th. Yasiel Puig proceeded to ground out and the Mariners elected to intentionally walk Adrian Gonzalez. Dominic Leone (0-1) then walked Howie Kendrick to load the bases before giving way to Tyler Olson.

Carl Crawford struck out for the second out in the inning, but Guerrero picked him up by going down and poking a single to right for the winning hit.

The Mariners recalled Leone from the Triple-A Tacoma earlier in the day because reliever Tom Wilhelmsen was placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a hyperextended right elbow.

Yimi Garcia (1-0) picked up the win for pitching a scoreless 10th inning.

Guerrero and Joc Pederson each knocked in two runs, while Yasiel Puig homered and Kendrick added an RBI in the win.

Nelson Cruz hit a pair of homers and Dustin Ackley and Kyle Seager also went deep for Seattle, which had its two-game winning streak halted.

"He's finding his groove. He's getting pitches to drive and he's taking care of it," Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said of Cruz.

Cruz hit a two-run homer in the first and smacked a solo shot in the fourth to help Seattle grab a 3-0 lead. Seager followed Cruz in the fourth with a solo homer to right center.

A leadoff single by Puig and a one-out double by Kendrick gave Los Angeles a scoring opportunity in the home fourth. Scot Van Slyke walked to load the bases, then Guerrero hit a sacrifice fly to right. Pederson brought in Kendrick and Van Slyke a batter later with a single to left that cut the Dodgers deficit to 4-3.

Ackley homered with one out in the fifth, but Los Angeles tied the game on Puig's second homer of the year and Kendrick's RBI base knock in the home half.
