Tomas, Pacheco lead D-backs in rout of Rockies

Apr 30, 2015 - 4:41 AM Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Yasmany Tomas finished with two hits and a career-high three RBI as the Arizona Diamondbacks routed the Colorado Rockies 9-1 Wednesday in the rubber match of a three-game set.

Jordan Pacheco hit a three-run homer and Paul Goldschmidt went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for the Diamondbacks, who have won two straight games on the heels of a four-game skid.

"It was a big part in the game," Pacheco said on his homer. "I got lucky I got one and got it up in the air."

Josh Collmenter (2-3) earned the win after giving up just one unearned run and five hits with no walks and six strikeouts over eight strong frames.

Nolan Arenado drove in Colorado's lone run and starter Jordan Lyles (2-2) was roughed up for seven runs -- six earned -- on eight hits and five walks over five innings in the loss.

"We have to go out and pitch better and play better," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. "We haven't played very well this series."

The Rockies kicked off the scoring in the first inning. Troy Tulowitzki doubled with two outs, moved to third on a fielding error and scored on Arenado's single to center.

In the home half, Ender Inciarte and Goldschmidt singled around a Chris Owings pop out. Inciarte swiped third and scored on Daniel Descalso's throwing error. Goldschmidt stole second and advanced to third on the play before coming around on Mark Trumbo's base hit to center for a 2-1 game.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the fifth, Tomas drove a grounder into right field to plate two and Pacheco followed by crushing a 1-2 changeup into the left-field seats for a 7-1 advantage.

Tomas added to Arizona's lead in the seventh by smacking a line-drive single to right, scoring David Peralta, who cracked a two-out double.

Goldschmidt's RBI single in the eighth accounted for the final score.
