Dodgers edge D-backs
May 3, 2015 - 6:07 AM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Joc Pederson tied the game with a solo homer in the seventh inning, and Howie Kendrick's RBI single gave Los Angeles the lead later in the frame, as the Dodgers topped the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-4, Saturday night.Jimmy Rollins singled in Yasmani Grandal with an insurance run in the eighth inning. Grandal had three hits for the Dodgers, who won their third in a row.
Justin Turner homered and scored three times for Los Angeles.
"I think we're playing great baseball right now," Pederson said.
Paul Goldschmidt belted a two-run homer and Aaron Hill added a solo shot for the Diamondbacks, losers of six of their last eight contests. They'll try to avoid a three-game sweep Sunday afternoon.
Jeremy Hellickson pitched the first 5 1/3 innings for the Diamondbacks, while Scott Baker lasted the first four frames for the Dodgers.
Juan Nicasio (1-1) pitched three scoreless frames for the win and Chris Hatcher overcame a two-hit ninth to get his second save.
Evan Marshall (0-1) suffered the loss.
Goldschmidt homered with Ender Inciarte aboard in the first inning, but Turner went deep in the bottom half and Adrian Gonzalez's double plated Kendrick.
"You never want to throw 30 pitches in the first inning. I don't know how many I threw tonight, but it's probably around there. I just have to be more efficient and get ahead," Hellickson said.
Inciarte's RBI single gave Arizona the lead in the second, but Scott Van Slyke's run-scoring base hit tied it in the third.
Hill led off the fourth with a blast over the wall in left-center for a 4-3 contest.
Pederson's sixth homer of the season came with two outs in the seventh. Turner then doubled and came home on Kendrick's single to right.
