Maldonado, Brewers top Rockies in 11th
May 11, 2015 - 12:11 AM Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Martin Maldonado's walk-off single in the 11th inning provided the Milwaukee Brewers with a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs in Sunday's rubber match.Jason Motte (1-1) took the mound for the Cubs in the deciding frame and gave up a leadoff double to Ryan Braun. Adam Lind was intentionally walked and Braun moved up to third on Khris Davis' deep flyout to center.
Jean Segura was purposely walked to load the bases and Maldonado hit a fly ball to right to score Braun and give Milwaukee the win.
"I couldn't be happier that I have my mom here on Mother's Day, first time," Maldonado said.
Maldonado and Elian Herrera hit back-to-back homers in the seventh and Michael Blazek (3-0) earned the win after striking out two in a perfect 11th inning for the Brewers, who won the final two games of the series.
Starter Matt Garza surrendered just one run on three hits with nine strikeouts over seven frames.
Miguel Montero homered and Anthony Rizzo supplied two hits and an RBI for the Cubs, who had starter Kyle Hendricks toss 5 1/3 scoreless frames, giving up just five hits with three strikeouts.

The game's first run came with two outs in the sixth as Montero crushed Garza's first-pitch fastball for a solo blast to left.
Zac Rosscup came in to pitch the seventh for the Cubs and surrendered his team's lead. Maldonado smacked a fastball over the wall in left to tie the game and Herrera followed three pitches later with a shot of his own to left center for a 2-1 Brewers lead.
"I felt really stronger about Cup (Rosscup) right there ... he's been throwing the ball so well," Cubs manager Joe Maddon said.
Chicago, however, tied the game in the eighth. Dexter Fowler got aboard with a one-out single and two batters later, Rizzo greeted Will Smith by doubling off the base of the right-field wall, allowing Fowler to round third and score after Maldonado was unable to hold on to throw at the plate.
Game Notes
Cubs second baseman Addison Russell had his 12-game hitting streak come to an end after going 0-for-3 ... Chicago went 0-for-5 and left five on base.
