Posey, Giants down Mets

Jun 11, 2015 - 4:46 AM Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Buster Posey drove in three runs and the San Francisco Giants beat the New York Mets 8-5 on Wednesday.

Nori Aoki went 4-for-5 with two runs scored while Brandon Belt hit a two-run homer and Joe Panik and Justin Maxwell added solo shots for the Giants, who got a no-hitter from rookie Chris Heston in the opener of the three-game series on Tuesday.

"It helps knowing that there's not one single person in this lineup that thinks that they have to carry the load," Belt said. "You know if you don't get the job done, somebody behind you will."

Tim Hudson (4-5) didn't fare nearly as well as Heston, but was backed by solid offensive support as he was touched for four runs on eight hits over five-plus innings.

Wilmer Flores drove in two while Lucas Duda, Eric Campbell and Juan Lagares each posted an RBI for the Mets, who have dropped four of five.

Matt Harvey (6-4) gave up seven runs on nine hits in six innings to take the loss.

"Everything was all over the place," Harvey said. "I'm not putting people away when I need to."

The Giants got on the board in the first inning as Aoki led off with a single and Panik followed with his sixth home run of the season for a 2-0 lead.

There would be no follow-up to Tuesday's no-hitter, as Curtis Granderson led off the New York first with a single and moved to second on Ruben Tejada's groundout. After Duda walked, Michael Cuddyer singled to left, but Granderson was thrown out at home by Aoki.

The play left two runners in scoring position, and Flores followed with a single to center that scored both to tie the game.

Campbell singled home a run in the fourth and Duda did the same in the fifth to stake the Mets to a 4-2 lead.

The Giants, though, went on top with a big sixth inning. Panik singled to start the inning and Angel Pagan walked before Posey brought them both home with a double. Belt then smacked his eighth home run of the season, and Maxwell added a solo shot later in the frame for a 7-4 advantage.

Lagares tripled home a run in the eighth, but Posey got it back with an RBI double in the ninth inning to account for the final score.

Game Notes

Panik has a 14-game hitting streak and is 24-for-59 during the run ... The Giants have won nine of their last 10 games against the Mets ... Hudson improved to 18-10 in 33 career starts against the Mets ... Harvey fell to 0-2 in three starts against San Francisco.
