Reds place Rolen on disabled list
May 12, 2012 - 11:12 PM Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Reds placed third baseman Scott Rolen on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left shoulder Saturday.It is the same shoulder Rolen received surgery on last season, limiting the 17-year veteran to just 65 games.
Rolen has hit .174 with six doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI through 29 games this season.
Cincinnati purchased the contract of third baseman Mike Costanzo from Triple-A Louisville to fill the roster spot.
Costanzo batted .291 with six doubles, three homers and 11 RBI in 23 games for Louisville this season.
The 28-year-old will be making his MLB debut.
