After singles by Ramon Santiago and Jhonny Peralta, Victor Marte (0-1) hit Austin Jackson with a pitch, loading the bases with one out. Berry then slapped a grounder up the middle to plate the deciding run. Joaquin Benoit (1-1) stranded a pair of runners in the top of the 10th to earn the victory and Prince Fielder hit a fourth-inning homer for the Tigers, winners in nine of their last 13 games. Matt Holliday accounted for St. Louis' lone run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth.Final Score: Oakland 4, LA Dodgers 1
Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Yoenis Cespedes ripped a game-winning, three- run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Oakland Athletics over the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-1, and complete a sweep of the three-game interleague series. Brandon Inge also drove in a run for the Athletics, who have won eight of their last nine games. Ryan Cook (2-1) earned the win with a scoreless inning in relief of starter Travis Blackley, who allowed one run on three hits with six strikeouts over eight strong innings. Josh Lindblom (2-1) gave up the game-deciding runs to absorb the loss for Los Angeles, which has coming off a series win over the Chicago White Sox. Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw struck out seven batters over eight innings of one-run ball in the loss.
Final Score: Washington 5, Tampa Bay 2
Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Danny Espinosa's two-run double in the sixth inning put the Nationals on top for good as Washington downed the Tampa Bay Rays, 5-2, in the rubber match of a three-game interleague set. Gio Gonzalez (9-3) allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings to earn the win for Washington, which took the last two games of this series on the heels of a four-game losing streak. Tyler Clippard worked a perfect ninth to record his 11th save of the season. Joel Peralta (0-3) gave up Espinosa's go- ahead double to absorb the loss. Matt Moore started the game for Tampa Bay and allowed two runs on three hits and four walks with six strikeouts through five innings as the Rays lost for the sixth time in their last nine games.
Final Score: Pittsburgh 9, Minnesota 1
Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Rod Barajas and Garrett Jones both hit two- run homers and the Pittsburgh Pirates clobbered the Minnesota Twins, 9-1, in the rubber match of a three-game interleague set. James McDonald (6-3) threw his first career complete game as he gave up just one run on six hits with no walks and five strikeouts. He hasn't given up more than three runs in his 14 starts this season and lowered his ERA to 2.19. Andrew McCutchen finished a homer short of the cycle as he went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, three RBI and two runs scored for the Pirates, who have won four of their last five. Ryan Doumit drove in the lone run for the Twins, who have lost six of eight. Liam Hendriks (0-4) made his 10th career start and remained winless as he was tagged for six runs -- three earned -- on eight hits with three strikeouts in five-plus innings of work.

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Will Middlebrooks and Daniel Nava came up with clutch hits in a three-run eighth inning, rallying Boston to a 6-5 win over the Miami Marlins to complete a three-game sweep. Middlebrooks, who went 3- for-4 with four RBI, belted the tying two-run homer in the eighth. Nava's single to center scored Ryan Kalish, who set up the go-ahead run with some heady base-running. The Red Sox won their fifth in a row and dealt the Marlins their 13th defeat in 15 contests. Alfredo Aceves retired the side in order in the ninth to earn his 18th save, while Scott Atchison (2-0) tossed two scoreless frames to get the win.
