Yankees claim Darnell McDonald off waivers
Jul 4, 2012 - 8:16 PM St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - The New York Yankees claimed outfielder Darnell McDonald off waivers from the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday.McDonald was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Saturday.
The 33-year-old hit .214 with two homers and nine RBI in 38 games with Boston this season.
In 302 career games with the Orioles, Reds, Twins, and Red Sox, McDonald has batted .248 with 19 home runs and 78 RBI.
