MLB suspends Dominican player for falsifying age
Jul 12, 2012 - 7:26 PM New York, NY (Sports Network) - Major League Baseball announced a nearly one- year suspension for Texas prospect Jairo Beras after Beras provided a false date of birth during his registration with the league.Beras, from the Dominican Republic, will still have his contract with the Rangers approved, but will be suspended from official games until July 1, 2013.
He will be allowed to participate in workouts and practices during his suspension, but will not receive his minor league salary.
