Indians acquire Lillibridge from Red Sox
Jul 24, 2012 - 7:45 PM Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians acquired utilityman Brent Lillibridge from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for pitcher Jose De La Torre Tuesday.Lillibridge, who Boston designated for assignment on July 16, went 2-for-16 with five strikeouts in 10 games for the Red Sox this season.
Over 295 career games with the Braves, White Sox and Red Sox, Lillibridge is a .212 hitter with 19 doubles, 16 home runs and 58 RBI.
De La Torre has an 8-1 record with a 2.91 ERA and two saves through 34 appearances -- one start -- for Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus this year.
He has yet to appear in the majors.
