Pirates pick up OF Snider from Blue Jays

Jul 31, 2012 - 4:45 AM Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired outfielder Travis Snider from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for pitcher Brad Lincoln.

The deal was made prior to Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET non-waiver trade deadline.

The Pirates are unlikely buyers in the market this year. Despite a 14-4 loss to the Cubs Monday night, they are 58-44 on the season and just three games behind first-place Cincinnati in the NL Central. The Pirates also currently hold one of the two wild card spots.

The 24-year-old Snider was Toronto's first-round selection in the 2006 draft. The left-handed hitter entered Monday's action with a .235 average, three homers and eight RBI in nine games with the Blue Jays.

In 61 games with Triple-A Las Vegas, Snider batted .335 with 13 home runs and 57 RBI.

Lincoln, a 27-year-old right-hander, is 4-2 with a 2.73 ERA in 28 games (5 starts) this year, his third in the majors.
