Giants place Loux on DL, activate Mijares
Aug 8, 2012 - 12:07 AM St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The San Francisco Giants placed pitcher Shane Loux on the 15-day disabled list with a re-occurring neck strain Tuesday.Loux, 32, has no decisions and a 5.66 ERA in 14 relief appearances for the Giants this season.
Mijares, who San Francisco claimed off waivers from the Kansas City Royals on Monday, was placed on the active roster to take Loux's spot.
The 27-year-old left-hander went 2-2 with a 2.56 ERA in 51 games for the Royals this season. He has held left-handed hitters to a .214 average and has struck out 37 in 38 2/3 innings this year.
Mijares has a 5-8 record with a 3.04 earned run average over 237 career games for the Twins and Royals.
