Indians release Damon
Aug 9, 2012 - 10:51 PM Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians released veteran outfielder Johnny Damon and pitcher Jeremy Accardo on Thursday.Damon, signed by the Indians on April 17, hit .222 with six doubles, two triples, four home runs and 19 RBI in 64 games. He was designated for assignment last Friday.
The 38-year-old Damon has played in 2,490 career games with the Royals, Athletics, Red Sox, Yankees, Tigers, Rays and Indians, batting .284 with 522 doubles, 235 homers and 1,139 RBI.
Accardo went 0-0 with a 4.58 ERA in 26 relief appearances for the Indians this season.
