Mets' Lagares lands on DL

Apr 16, 2014 - 1:00 AM Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Mets placed outfielder Juan Lagares on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a pulled right hamstring.

Lagares sustained the injury during Monday's game against Arizona while running out a ground ball in the seventh inning.

The 25-year-old Lagares batted .314 with one triple, one home run and seven runs batted in over 13 games this season, his second in the majors after hitting .242 with four homers and 34 RBI in 121 games with the Mets in 2013.

To replace Lagares on the roster, New York recalled outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Nieuwenhuis, 26, batted .310 with two homers and eight RBI over 10 games at Las Vegas. He hit just .189 with three homers and 14 RBI over 47 games with the Mets last season.
