Phils activate Hamels to face Dodgers

Apr 23, 2014 - 10:21 PM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Cole Hamels was activated off the disabled list to start Wednesday night's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Hamels, who was 8-14 with a 3.60 earned-run average last year, will make his first start of the season after sitting out the first three-plus weeks with biceps tendinitis.

He was sent on a rehab assignment to Class-A Clearwater and made three starts with a 2.12 ERA and 0-1 record.

The Phillies optioned right-hander B.J. Rosenberg to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
