Rockies SS Tulowitzki heads to DL

Jul 22, 2014 - 10:09 PM Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Colorado Rockies placed All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday.

The move, which is retroactive to July 20, is due to a left hip flexor strain.

Prior to this setback, the 29-year-old infielder was hitting a major-league best .340 while collecting 21 home runs, 18 doubles, 52 RBI and 71 runs scored in 91 games.

To fill the roster spot, the Rockies recalled pitcher Yohan Flande from Triple-A Colorado Springs to start Tuesday's contest against Washington.

Flande went 0-2 with a 7.36 earned run average in three starts between June 25 and July 6.
