Nationals ink Schierholtz to minor-league deal
Aug 18, 2014 - 4:54 PM Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Nationals have agreed to terms with outfielder Nate Schierholtz on a minor-league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.Schierholtz spent his last two seasons with the Chicago Cubs and hit just .192 with 33 RBI and six home runs in 99 games this season before he was designated for assignment by the team on Aug. 6.
The 30-year-old owns a career .254 batting average with 224 RBI and 51 home runs over 776 games, spanning eight seasons with the Giants, Phillies and Cubs.
