Dunn deal: A's acquire slugger from ChiSox

Aug 31, 2014 - 4:17 PM Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics added some much needed power to their club on Sunday, acquiring veteran slugger Adam Dunn from the Chicago White Sox.

Dunn is set to join his fifth major league team in 14 seasons. He established himself as one of the league's best home run hitters with Cincinnati before stints in Arizona, Washington and Chicago.

The 34-year-old ranks 36th all-time with 460 career home runs. He's also driven in 1,158 runs in 1,976 career games.

This season, Dunn has hit 20 homers with 54 RBI and a .220 batting average.

Oakland also received cash considerations and sent minor league pitcher Nolan Sanburn to the White Sox. Sanburn was 3-1 with six saves and a 3.28 ERA in 42 relief appearances this season for Single-A Stockton.
