Trumbo helps D-backs end slide
Sep 14, 2014 - 6:55 AM Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Mark Trumbo finished 3-for-5 with three RBI to help the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the San Diego Padres 10-4 at Chase Field on Saturday.Ender Inciarte doubled, walked twice and scored two runs for Arizona, which snapped its season-worst losing streak at seven games. D-backs starter Chase Anderson (9-6) gave up two runs on four hits and three walks in five innings.
"Their approach has been really good the last couple nights," Arizona manager Kirk Gibson said.
Yangervis Solarte and Yasmani Grandal both smacked solo home runs for the Padres, who have dropped eight of 10. San Diego right-hander Tyson Ross (13-14) got the start and was tagged for six runs -- four earned -- on five hits and two walks in only three innings.
"He's human," Padres manager Bud Black said of Ross' outing.
The D-backs scored three runs in each of the first two innings.
Inciarte led off the first with a double and executed a double steal after A.J. Pollock walked. Trumbo ripped a two-run single and later scored on a wild pitch.
Didi Gregorius singled to begin the next inning and was sacrificed to second. After Inciarte walked, Chris Owings drove in a run with a single.
Inciarte scored on Pollock's grounder to shortstop Alexi Amarista, who committed an error on the throw to first. Owings then beat Ross' throw home on a Trumbo grounder.
The Padres trimmed their deficit to 6-2 in the fourth on Grandal's homer and an RBI single by Amarista.
Arizona put up a three-spot in the seventh after San Diego closed to within 7-4. Trumbo scored on another wild pitch before pinch-hitter Jordan Pacheco drove in a pair with a single.
