A's Lester named AL Player of the Week
Sep 15, 2014 - 8:05 PM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Jon Lester was named the American League Player of the Week for the period ending September 14th.Lester posted a 2-0 record in a pair of starts with a 1.29 ERA last week. The left-hander struck out 15 over 14 innings to help Oakland maintain a slim lead for the top spot in the AL Wild Card race.
Lester last won a Player of the Week Award for the period ending May 26, 2008 while with Boston, and he becomes the first As hurler to win since Gio Gonzalez on July 5, 2011.
