Padres' Cashner earns NL Weekly award
Sep 22, 2014 - 7:44 PM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - San Diego Padres pitcher Andrew Cashner was named the National League's Player of the Week for games ending Sept. 21.Cashner went 2-0 with 14 strikeouts in victories over the Phillies and Giants last week, tossing a two-hit shutout against the former and eight innings of two-run ball against the latter.
This is Cashner's first ever weekly award.
Also considered for the award were Chicago's Chris Coghlan, Colorado's Michael Cuddyer, Los Angeles' Matt Kemp and Washington's Drew Storen and Stephen Strasburg.
