Pirates manager Hurdle has hip surgery

Oct 6, 2014 - 7:50 PM Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle underwent successful hip replacement surgery on Monday.

The club announced that the 57-year-old skipper is expected to make a full recovery.

Hurdle led the Bucs to an 88-74 record this past season, good enough for second place in the NL Central and a wild card berth. He became the first Pirates manager to lead the club to back-to-back postseason appearances since Jim Leyland guided the three-time NL East champions from 1990-92.
