Yankees keep Chris Young

Nov 9, 2014 - 5:38 PM Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Yankees have re-signed outfielder Chris Young to a one-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the New York Daily News reported it to be worth $2.5 million plus incentives.

Young had a successful final month of the season for the Yankees, who signed the veteran in late August after he had been designated for assignment by the Mets earlier that month.

In 23 games for the Yankees, Young hit .282 with three homers and 10 runs batted in. He batted just .222 with 11 homers and 38 RBI overall in 111 games during 2014.

The 31-year-old veteran owns a career .234 average with 155 homers and 486 RBI in 1,103 games over nine big league seasons with Arizona (2006-12), Oakland (2013), the Mets and Yankees. He was a National League All-Star in 2010 with the Diamondbacks.
