White Sox, Brad Penny agree on deal
Dec 16, 2014 - 9:59 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on a deal with veteran right-hander Brad Penny, who made a comeback this past season with the Miami Marlins.Penny's management agency confirmed the deal in a tweet on Tuesday.
Multiple outlets, including SB Nation, said it was a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training.
Penny, 36, returned to the majors in August after almost two years and went 2-1 with a 6.58 ERA in eight games, including four starts.
The right-hander pitched out of the bullpen for San Francisco in 2012 in his previous MLB season and hadn't made a start since Sept. 25, 2011, with Detroit.
He won a World Series ring with the Marlins in 2003 and is 121-101 with a 4.29 ERA in 349 career games for the Marlins, Dodgers, Red Sox, Giants, Cardinals and Tigers.
