Giants retain Peavy with 2-year deal
Dec 19, 2014 - 2:32 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Francisco Giants have apparently re-signed right-hander Jake Peavy to a two-year contract.Although the Giants have yet to confirm the deal, the pact is believed to be worth $24 million and contains a full no-trade clause.
Peavy started last season with Boston, but was dealt to San Francisco in late July after going 1-9 with a 4.72 ERA in 20 outings for the Red Sox. However, he flourished with the Giants, as he was 6-4 with a 2.17 ERA in 12 starts.
The 33-year-old hurler also made four starts for the Giants in the postseason and was 1-2 with a 6.19 ERA. He tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings in his NLDS start versus Washington, but his season ended on a sour note, as he lasted just 1 1/3 innings in a Game 6 World Series loss to the Kansas City Royals.
A National League Cy Young Award winner with the San Diego Padres in 2007 and a three-time All-Star, Peavy is 139-111 with a 3.53 ERA over 13 seasons with the Padres, Chicago White Sox, Red Sox and Giants.
No one has shouted yet.
