Bonifacio headed to ChiSox

Jan 5, 2015 - 6:43 PM (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago White Sox and utilityman Emilio Bonifacio have reportedly agreed to a one-year contract.

According to FOXSports.com, the deal is worth $4 million.

Bonifacio spent 2014 with the Cubs and Braves, finishing the campaign with a .259 batting average, 17 doubles, three homers and 24 runs batted in over a combined 110 games.

The 29-year-old Dominican native will give the White Sox versatility, having played all three outfield positions as well as second base, shortstop and third base in his eight-year big league career.

Bonifacio is a career .262 hitter in 722 games with Arizona, Washington, Miami, Toronto, Kansas City, the Cubs and Braves.

It's been a whirlwind offseason for the White Sox, who already added pitchers Jeff Samardzija, Zach Duke and David Robertson, as well as first baseman Adam LaRoche and outfielder Melky Cabrera.
