Yankees avoid arbitration with Nova
Jan 14, 2015 - 10:07 PM Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Yankees and pitcher Ivan Nova agreed to terms on a contract for the upcoming season, the team announced Wednesday.According to the New York Post, Nova will earn $3.3 million in 2015. The arbitration-eligible right-hander had the same salary last season, in which he was limited to just four starts before undergoing Tommy John surgery in late April.
Nova is expected to miss the early portion of the 2015 campaign while recovering from the procedure.
A 16-game winner for the Yankees in 2011, Nova has compiled a 40-22 record with a 4.20 ERA over 93 major league games (86 starts), all with New York. He went 2-2 last season, but allowed 19 runs and 32 hits -- including six home runs -- in just 20 2/3 innings of work.
