White Sox avoid arbitration with Guerra, Jones and Noesi
Jan 16, 2015 - 1:41 AM Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms with pitchers Javy Guerra, Nate Jones and Hector Noesi on one-year contracts for the 2015 season.Noesi agreed to a $1.95 million contract. The right-hander was a combined 8-12 with a 4.75 ERA in 33 games (27 starts) with the White Sox, Rangers and Mariners in 2014.
The 28-year-old Noesi is 12-27 with a 5.16 ERA in 97 career games (48 starts) with the Yankees (2011), Seattle (2012-14), Texas (2014) and the White Sox (2014).
Guerra, 29, went 2-4 with a 2.91 ERA in 42 appearances last season, his first with the White Sox. He agreed to a $937,500 contract.
Jones, who pitched in only two games with the White Sox last season because of hip and elbow injuries, will receive $660,000.
The signings leave catcher Tyler Flowers and right-handed pitcher Jeff Samardzija as Chicago's only two remaining arbitration eligible players.
