Nats, Fister agree to $11.4 million deal
Jan 16, 2015 - 9:11 PM Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Nationals avoided arbitration with starting pitcher Doug Fister by agreeing to terms on a one- year contract with the right-hander.Comcast SportsNet Washington reported that Fister will earn $11.4 million in 2015, his final season before entering free agency.
Fister is coming off an outstanding first season with Washington, who acquired the 30-year-old in a trade with Detroit in December of 2013. He compiled a 16-6 record in 25 starts for the National League East champion Nationals, while Fister's 2.41 ERA ranked fourth in the NL.
The 16 wins were a career high for Fister, who has gone 51-38 with a 3.11 ERA over the last four seasons.
