Mariners bring back Chavez, Gutierrez

Jan 27, 2015 - 2:22 AM Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Mariners signed outfielder Endy Chavez and Franklin Gutierrez to minor league deals on Monday.

Chavez, 36, played in 80 games with the Mariners last season and batted .276 with two homers and 23 RBI. He played all three outfield positions for the club.

A 13-year veteran, Chavez is a career .270 hitter with 30 homers and 266 RBI over 1,151 games. He has played with Kansas City, Montreal/Washington, Philadelphia, Texas, Baltimore, Seattle and the New York Mets.

Gutierrez did not appear in the majors last season due to medical reasons. The 31-year-old owns a career average of .256 with 67 homers and 279 RBI in 762 games with Seattle and Cleveland.
