White Sox release OF Viciedo

Feb 4, 2015 - 10:28 PM Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago White Sox released outfielder Dayan Viciedo on Wednesday.

Viciedo, who was designated for assignment on Jan. 28, batted .231 with 21 home runs and 58 RBI in 145 games last season.

The 25-year-old signed with the team as an amateur free agent on Dec. 12, 2008 after defecting from Cuba and hit .254 with 66 homers and 211 RBI over 483 games in five seasons with the White Sox.

Chicago also acquired minor league pitcher Yency Almonte from the Angels as the player to be named later from the Aug. 21 trade that sent infielder Gordon Beckham to Los Angeles.
