O's rally to beat Red Sox in 10

Apr 26, 2015 - 5:23 AM Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - David Lough's solo home run in the 10th inning gave the Baltimore Orioles a 5-4 win over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday in the second game of a three-game series.

Boston had taken the lead in the top of the 10th on Xander Bogaerts' homer, but Adam Jones led off the home half with a triple just out of the reach of a diving Allen Craig in right, and scored on Chris Davis' sacrifice fly before Lough crushed a splitter deep into the seats in right field for the win.

"It's huge," said Lough. "It's always good to give the team a win and see the smiles on the guys' faces."

Jimmy Paredes went 4-for-5 with a solo home run, two RBI and two runs scored for the Orioles, who snapped a five-game losing streak.

Wei-Yin Chen pitched eight innings and gave up two runs on four hits with a walk and five strikeouts, but the Red Sox tied the game against Zach Britton in the ninth. Brian Matusz (1-2) got the win for getting the final two outs of the 10th.

Mike Napoli was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer for the Red Sox, who have lost three of their last four. Justin Masterson allowed three runs on seven hits over seven frames, and Koji Uehara (0-1) gave up both runs in the 10th.

"We kept them off-balance," said Masterson. "In the end, they were the resilient team tonight."

Baltimore went on top in the first inning as Alejandro De Aza doubled to lead off and scored when Paredes followed with a two-bagger. Paredes moved to third on a groundout from Jones, and crossed the plate on Davis' sac fly for a 2-0 lead.

Boston quickly tied it, though, as Hanley Ramirez led off the second with a walk and scored on Napoli's first homer of the season, a blast over the wall in right.

The Red Sox nearly took the lead in the fourth as Craig singled to left with Ramirez on second, but De Aza threw out Ramirez at the plate to keep the game tied.

Paredes' two-out homer in the fifth, his third of the season, gave the Orioles a 3-2 lead.

Boston didn't have a baserunner after the fourth until Dustin Pedroia walked off Britton to start the ninth. David Ortiz then struck out, but infield singles from Ramirez and Napoli loaded the bases. Pablo Sandoval then hit a grounder to third and Manny Machado stepped on the bag, but his throw to first went wide and Pedroia scored to tie the game.

Game Notes

Fans at Camden Yards were asked to stay inside the stadium after the game because of protests outside over the death of Freddie Gray, who died last week from an injury suffered while in police custody. They were eventually told it was OK to leave ... Baltimore left eight men on base, going 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position ... Wade Miley will pitch for Boston in the series finale on Sunday, while Bud Norris will toe the rubber for Baltimore.
