D-backs edge Marlins to complete 4-game sweep

May 21, 2015 - 9:26 PM Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - A.J. Pollock beat out a dribbler that allowed the go-ahead run to score in the eighth inning and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Miami Marlins 7-6 on Thursday afternoon to complete a four-game sweep.

Ender Inciarte finished 3-for-5 with two RBI and scored a run for the Diamondbacks, who swept the Marlins in four games for the second time in franchise history. Yasmany Tomas was 2-for-5 for his sixth straight multi-hit game and knocked in a run.

Martin Prado had three hits and one RBI for Miami, which has dropped seven straight games, including the last four under new manager Dan Jennings.

The Marlins responded with two runs in the sixth after the Diamondbacks scored four in the top of the inning to grab a 6-4 lead. Arizona reliever Randall Delgado surrendered a pair of two-out RBI singles to Marcell Ozuna and Prado.

Andrew Chafin (2-0) got Christian Yelich to ground into a fielder's choice for the third out.

The D-backs moved back in front in the eighth after loading the bases with no outs. Giancarlo Stanton saved a run with his arm, catching Inciarte's line drive and throwing Jordan Pacheco out at the plate. But Pollock followed with a tapper in front of the plate and beat reliever Sam Dyson's (2-1) throw to first base.

"I was fortunate that I got it in the right spot," Pollock said. "I was just trying to bust it."

Dyson said the infield hit is typical of how things have been going for the club lately.

"We're not making the plays that we need to make," he said.

Addison Reed retired the Marlins in order in the eighth and Brad Ziegler pitched the ninth to earn his first save of the season.

Inciarte singled to begin the game, advanced on a passed ball and eventually scored on a two-out double by Tomas.

Miami's first four batters reached in the bottom of the first against Arizona starter Archie Bradley. Stanton drove in the tying run with a single, and the Marlins grabbed the lead when Ozuna scored on a double-play grounder by Yelich with the bases loaded. Justin Bour followed with an RBI single for a 3-1 lead.

Marlins starter Mat Latos gave up a two-out RBI single to Inciarte in the second, but Realmuto hit a stand-up triple to begin the fourth and scored on Adeiny Hechavarria's sacrifice fly to make it 4-2.

The Diamondbacks moved ahead with a four-run sixth. Pacheco had a sac fly after Arizona loaded the bases with no outs. Cliff Pennington then knocked in the tying run with a double, ending an 0-for-18 slump and chasing Latos from the game.

After Steve Cishek entered from the bullpen, Aaron Hill drove in the go-ahead run with a pinch-hit sac fly. Inciarte followed with a single to score Pennington.
