Rangers sit Blanks on DL

May 22, 2015 - 9:53 PM Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Texas Rangers placed infielder/outfielder Kyle Blanks on the 15-day disabled list Friday.

Blanks, who is dealing with a painful tailbone issue, was hitting .322 over 15 appearances with the Rangers this season, his first with the club.

To fill the roster spot, Texas recalled outfielder Jake Smolinski from Triple- A Round Rock. Smolinski batted just .140 in 25 games in the majors this year, but hit a scorching .480 in his seven games with the Pacific Coast League farm club.
