A's put Crisp on DL

May 23, 2015 - 2:04 PM St. Petersburg, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics have placed outfielder Coco Crisp on the 15-day disabled list with a cervical strain.

To take his spot on the roster, the A's recalled right-handed pitcher Kendall Graveman from Triple-A Nashville. Graveman is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Crisp, who has not played since May 19, will not have surgery because the operation could potentially end his career. He also missed time with the neck injury in 2014 but did not go on the disabled list.

The 35-year-old Crisp was batting just .044 (2-for-45) in 13 games this year. He began the season on the disabled list after undergoing surgery on his right elbow and was reinstated May 6.

Graveman joins the A's for the second time this year. He was on the Opening Day roster and went 1-2 with an 8.27 ERA in four starts before he was optioned to Nashville April 26.
