Greinke earns win as Dodgers top Marlins

Jun 28, 2015 - 10:38 PM Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Zack Greinke shut down the Marlins over 7 2/3 innings in the Los Angeles Dodgers' 2-0 win over Miami on Sunday.

Greinke (6-2) won for the first time in 10 starts with six strikeouts and just four hits and a walk scattered throughout his outing. Adam Liberatore finished the eighth, and Kenley Jansen recorded his 11th save to take the rubber game of the three-game series.

"A lot of the stuff was working, and I didn't have too many guys on base," said Greinke.

Howie Kendrick and Adrian Gonzalez combined for five of Los Angeles' seven hits and each drove in one run.

In its second game without Giancarlo Stanton, Miami's offense continued to struggle. Since the star outfielder went on the disabled list, Miami has scored just one earned run on 13 hits, and Christian Yelich has six of those.

Jose Urena (1-4) allowed just one run on four hits and four walks in five innings.

"That was some tough luck today," said Marlins manager Dan Jennings. "(Urena) went out and he battled, and he gave us five innings."

Greinke was familiar with Urena's lack of run support. The Dodgers were involved in 1-0 scores in his previous two starts, but they got on the board for their pitcher in the fifth. With runners on the corners and one out, Kendrick hit a potential inning-ending double play grounder, but Joc Pederson's hard slide at second base caused a wild throw and allowed Jimmy Rollins to score.

Meanwhile, Greinke rarely ran into trouble. A one-out walk and two-out single gave the Marlins two baserunners in the fourth, but Greinke got Derek Dietrich to ground out to end the threat. He also worked around a Justin Bour double in the seventh.

The Dodgers added an insurance run in the seventh. Kendrick walked with two outs and scored on Gonzalez's opposite-field double. Los Angeles had a chance for more when consecutive walks loaded the bases, but pinch-hitter Scott Van Slyke flew out to left to end the inning.

Jansen allowed a leadoff double to Yelich in the ninth before striking out two and getting Dietrich to pop out to end the game.
