NO-NO ENCORE

Houston righty Mike Fiers takes the mound for the first time since throwing a no-hitter against the Dodgers on Aug. 21. After needing 134 pitches to get through that game, Fiers got a full week off going into this start at Target Field vs. the Twins.

LANCE LOOKS

St. Louis righty Lance Lynn faces the Giants at AT&T Park, trying again to beat them for the first time in his career. He is 0-5 in seven starts against San Francisco in the regular season and playoffs. That drought includes a 2-0 loss at Busch Stadium last week.

NICE NEWCOMERS

Rookie pitchers will match up when the Yankees and Braves meet at Turner Field. Luis Severino goes for New York, coming off his first career victory. Matt Wisler has lost his last three decisions for Atlanta.

HEALING

Rookie slugger Miguel Sano could return to the starting lineup when the Twins host Houston. He was scratched Friday night because of a nagging right hamstring. Manager Paul Molitor hopes Sano, who has been a designated hitter, third baseman and first baseman for Minnesota, can return as the DH.

HE'S BACK

Drew Hutchison, with a 12-2 record despite a 5.06 ERA, returns from the minors to make his first start for Toronto since Aug. 16. The Blue Jays recently sent him to Triple-A when three off-days on their trip let them go to a four-man rotation. He'll face the visiting Tigers.
