PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Despite four no-decisions in four starts, Joba Chamberlain has been proving that the New York Yankees made the right decision by changing his role.
Chamberlain (1-2, 2.36 ERA) has made the transition from reliever to starter fairly well, and he will look to win his first game as a member of the rotation Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Pirates will counter with Zach Duke (4-4, 3.91), who is sporting a 2.75 ERA in his past five starts.
On Tuesday, the Yankees returned to Pittsburgh for the first time since the 1960 World Series. The Pirates won 12-5, clinching their first victory against them since Bill Mazeroski's historic homer decided the '60 fall classic.
The Yankees, who had won 13 of 18, were without offensive catalyst Johnny Damon because of a sore left foot so they called up the 28-year-old Justin Christian, who had two hits and drove in two runs in his first career game. Hideki Matsui also sat out for the Yankees.
The status' of both outfielders are uncertain for Wednesday.
Pittsburgh catcher Ryan Doumit was 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in his first game back after missing a week with a concussion.
